Israel's Proposed National Identity Law and Human Rights

Guest Speaker: Leonard Hammer, Ph.D., Visiting Scholar at the Arizona Center for Judaic Studies

Some have asserted that part of the reason for the upcoming elections in Israel is a result of the proposed Basic Law on Jewish National Identity. This lecture will explain some of the grounds for human rights in Israel and the potential impact of the proposed law. Leonard Hammer is the Andrea and David Stein Visiting Professor in Modern Israel Studies at The Arizona Center for Judaic Studies. He lectures at the Rothberg International School, Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and works in the field of international law and international human rights.
