Date:
Prof. Harold Marcuse, University of California, Santa Barbara
In this lecture Prof. Marcuse will examine several of the widely circulating beliefs about Adolf Hitler. His main goal is not so much to debunk myths, but to show when, where and why they emerged, how they changed over time, and the results of historians' efforts to find sources that shed light on their veracity. Did Hitler have "Jewish blood" (ancestry)? Did his family life predispose him towards violent behavior? When did he become and antisemite? This lecture presents and assesses the sources that are available to answer these questions.
The event is free and open to the public.
