JUS 372B The History & Religion of Ancient Israel: Ezra-Nehemiah to the Roman Period

Instructor: 

Survey of the history and religion of ancient Israel from the destruction of the First Temple in 587 BCE to the end of the Second Great Revolt in 135 CE. Through readings and class lectures, students will study portions of the Hebrew and the New Testament, the Dead Sea Scrolls, Apocryphal literature, as well as the works of Josephus, Philo of Alexandria, and others.
