Advanced Modern Hebrew

You have to have a grade of "C" or higher in order to advance to the next level of Hebrew.

You will not be allowed to register for JUS 303a or 303b without demonstrating the appropriate course prerequisites or without permission from the Head of theHebrew Program.

Advanced Modern Hebrew - JUS 303A & 303B

JUS 303A is the first semester of a full year of advanced Modern Hebrew. It is a three credit course. The course is designed to refine and enhance the language skills that the students acquired in the elementary and intermediate course. Students will read and texts from Israel such as essays and newspaper articles.  Students will write independently using correct syntax and grammar. Students will be encouraged to write creatively on subjects of their choice.  Students will be able to conduct a complete advanced level conversation in Hebrew. Students will participate in an online project and communicate with students from other universities in the target language. Successful completion of JUS203B (a grade of ‘C’ or above), is prerequisite for enrollment in this course.

JUS 303B is the second semester of a full year of advanced Modern Hebrew. It is a three credit course. It emphasizes all facets of the language – comprehension, speech, reading and writing. It is designed to refine the students’ comprehension and speaking skills as well as their reading and writing skills. Students will read texts from Israeli press discuss them in class and write analytical essays. Students will use the internet to research and discuss independently subjects related to Israeli culture. Students will participate in an online project and communicate with students from other universities in the target language. Successful completion of JUS303A (a grade of ‘C’ or above), is prerequisite for enrollment in this course.
