Sukkot is agricultural in origin and is celebrated late September to late October. Sukkot is the plural of Sukkuh, a walled structure covered with tree branches or bamboo shoots, that is built during Sukkot. All meals are eaten inside the sukkah and many sleep there as well.
It is up to each faculty member to decide whether or not to assign a reading day for classes held on a Jewish holiday. Students should refer to their course syllabus or contact their instructor for guidance.
